History

The first issue of the journal was published in May 1993 by Fundación Huésped under the name Actualizaciones en sida (Updates on AIDS). It was the first Latin American scientific journal in Spanish to deal specifically with HIV/AIDS, aimed at professionals in the areas of Health and Social Sciences.

In March 2013, the Argentine Society of Infectious Diseases joined as co-publisher to expand the contents to all aspects related to infectious diseases. At that time, the journal adopted its current name, Actualizaciones en Sida e Infectología (Updates on AIDS and Infectious Diseases).
