How to submit an article

ASEI receives manuscripts submitted by authors through the Open Journal System platform, a free software for the management and publication of scientific journals. This system is used to receive, review and publish articles.  It also allows both authors and reviewers to keep track of their submissions and the reviews commissioned, respectively, at all stages.

The first step to submit a manuscript is to register with the journal. If the person submitting the article has the ORCID identifier, the data will be autocompleted. In this instance, whoever registers as an author may also apply as a possible referee for the review of articles, indicating their subject areas of expertise.

Once registered, the author must click on MAKE A NEW SUBMISSION. Doing so will open a screen with a 5-step process.

1- In the START stage you must choose the SECTION according to the type of material to be submitted. After reading the Editorial Guidelines you must check the boxes in the checklist. Comments for the Editorial Committee can be added at this stage. Then click SAVE AND CONTINUE.

2- Several options are offered to UPLOAD THE SUBMISSION, and you must choose "ARTICLE TEXT" in most cases to upload the Word file. Then, in the CONFIRM screen you can add other files such as the Letter to the Editor (if applicable) and/or graphic elements (tables, figures, images, graphs, etc). Finally, click on SAVE AND CONTINUE.

3- In the ENTER METADATA stage, the main data of the article should be entered (section, title and abstract). It is also time to add all the authors of the article, always clarifying which of them is the main author. Finally, the KEY WORDS are added. It is recommended that you review the Editorial Guidelines on these items before uploading metadata.

4- At the CONFIRMATION stage, all the steps previously taken are confirmed by clicking on FINISH SUBMISSION.

5- NEXT STEPS provides information to be read by the author. It is also possible to review the submission made and create a new submission.

Once the article has been formally submitted to the journal, the entire editorial process will be conducted through the platform, including requests for review, correction or queries to the Editorial Committee.
