On the way to the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Rio de Janeiro 2016

Abstract

In Latin America, the Olympic and Paralympic Games will be held for the first time (5-21 August 7-18 September 2016), one of the more relevant “mass gathering” worldwide. The Latin American Society of Travel Medicine (SLAMVI) and the Brazilian Society of Immunization (SBIm) have made a document for professionals in order to warn about the risks for travellers and provide useful material for the pre travel advice.

These recommendations analyses all health risks for travellers and the preventive measures to travel to an multitudinous event in Brazil, in order to preserve the traveller’s health and the countries’ health system. This article condenses the most important information for travellers to "Rio 2016".
